About

Camila Matos Chévere (Puerto Rico,1998)
@cam.pinta
Camila explores the relationship between trauma, distortions of reality, sexuality and nature to better navigate her own healing, and simultaneously escape to other realities. She works with images around the body, self-portraits, plants and animals to blur the line between the grotesque and the beautiful, between the violent and the peaceful. Her work seeks to highlight the capacity, not only human but natural, to adapt in the face of adversity, starring mystical and powerful femme figures.
She works and lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and has been a self-taught artist since 2020. At the moment, she also works as a freelance art assistant in film and music video productions. After completing a bachelor's degree in foreign languages at the University of Puerto Rico, she decided to pursue her creative practice, ranging from painting to digital illustration, textile design, sculpture and art direction.
